Position Summary
The Production Control Specialist serves as the assistant manager of the production department, ensuring efficient flow of materials and information across departments such as Quality, Inventory, and Production. This position plays a key role in maintaining production schedules, resolving bottlenecks, coordinating rework, and supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and take ownership of ensuring that all production activities run smoothly and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the flow of parts and materials between Quality, Inventory, and Production departments to ensure efficient operations.
- Create and manage rework documentation for parts rejected by the Quality department and ensure timely completion of rework.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for production technicians regarding material requests, tooling needs, and consumable orders.
- Coordinate outsourced operations, such as parts requiring external coatings or other vendor-performed processes.
- Maintain and update the production schedule for the commercial production line, determining daily product builds and ensuring technicians have the correct parts and documentation.
- Support product costing, production planning, and strategic sourcing as needed.
- Assist in maintenance planning and other operational improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with management to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in production control, manufacturing operations, or supply chain coordination.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to coordinate across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred:
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes.
