About the Department
Responsible for the oversight of the ECC Academic Success Center on the Tarboro campus. This position requires oversight and facilitating ongoing professional development as it relates to the college’s early alert management system. This employee will serve as a pre-Health Sciences advisor and work closely with the Student Services team and the campus community to provide students with both general and program specific information regarding all programs of study at ECC. Chairs the campus Attendance Appeals Committee. Monitors the part-time tutoring staff in the Academic Success Center on Tarboro campus. May instruct students in ACA 111 or ACA 122. Required to work some evening hours and both campuses. Performs other duties as required by the Student Services Division.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinates Tarboro Academic Success Center schedule ensuring appropriate coverage
Monitors the part-time tutors in the center
Provides guidance in the onboarding process for prospective students to include application assistance, FAFSA completion, transcript requests, etc.
Provides guidance to support the academic success of students outside the classroom
Utilizes the degree audit and academic planning system in Self Service to assist students in understanding graduation plans and academic program planning
Responds to routine inquiries or visits about curriculum and continuing education programs and courses; refer to a counselor or Student Services Dean those inquiries of a more personal or specific nature,
Answers telephone inquiries and emails concerning school dates, events, and course offerings,
Types or emails correspondence to advisors regarding students on their advising caseload
Prepares orientation to the centers for New Student Orientations sessions on the Rocky Mount and Tarboro Campus
Conducts Self-Service and Early Alert system training workshops for faculty, staff, and students
Makes student referrals to the Student Support Counselor and Tutoring as needed
Maintains an advising load for pre-Health Science students
Serves as the Chair of the campus Attendance Appeals committee
Maintains a teaching load of approximately six hours per semester (Fall and Spring) if applicable
Attends career development workshops, professional enhancement programs, etc.
Submits objectives on an annual basis to help in the planning process for the center
Receives and/or reviews various records and reports including transcripts, placement test scores, and e-mails
Serves on various institutional committees when needed
Works with the Dean of Students and the Vice President of Student Services to ensure information regarding academic dates is accurate in all print and electronic publications
Assists the Dean of Student Services, Dean of Enrollment and Financial Aid, and Vice President of Student Services with special projects as requested
Operates a variety of office equipment such as a computer, printer, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree from an accredited university preferred. At least 2 years of experience advising and supporting community college students. Teaching experience in a college setting. Proven effective customer service skills; proficiency with computer software.
Other Qualifications
PREFERRED
Master’s degree from an accredited university. Three or more years’ experience in academic advising and/or student success programs at the community college level. Teaching experience in a college setting. Proven effective customer service skills; proficiency with computer software; Datatel/Colleague experience.
