Instructional Assistant - Behavior Intervention - Prevention and Intervention - 30 Hours/Week (Outside Candidates) en Irvine Unified School District

The Irvine Unified School District comprises a diverse population of more than 36,000 PK-12 students in one early childhood learning center, 24 elementary schools, five K-8 schools, six middle schools, five high schools and one alternative high school. DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Prevention and Intervention, provides a variety of complex applied behavioral and instructional support strategies and techniques; assists and shares with instructional personnel strategies on reinforcing instruction; supports individual or small groups of students; collects and maintains data on student behavior; performs a variety of clerical and supportive tasks for certificated instructional personnel; attends and participates in student progress meetings.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years’ experience working with school-aged children in an educational or organized setting. College level coursework in child development, special education, or psychology preferred. Experience working with students with behavioral /emotional needs is desirable.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Proof of passage of the CBEST, or proof of an AA degree or higher from an accredited institution in the US or successful passage of the District’s Proficiency Test or meet cut scores for ACT/SAT (ACT23 Math, 22 English; SAT-550 Math, 500 English).

• Valid First Aid/CPR certificate.

• Incumbents are required to participate in District professional development trainings and workshops in the area of Crisis Intervention Training and related behavior strategies and techniques during a probationary period.

Beginning salary is $23.92 per hour. There are 6 steps to the salary scale reaching $29.81 after annual increases.

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year. IUSD offers a comprehensive health benefits program for employees who work 30 hours or more per week. The district pays most of the cost of medical, dental and vision insurance for all eligible employees. Newly hired employees will begin at Step 1 on the salary schedule. Req# 4600, 4601
