May lead and monitor the work of others.
Operates valves and switches to place generators, main turbines, water treatment equipment, boiler feed pump turbines and combustion turbine/generators and auxiliary equipment and systems in and out of service and to maintain normal operating conditions.
Operates valves and switches to test turbine auxiliary equipment and systems.
Monitors generators, main turbines, boilers, boiler feed pump turbines, combustion turbine/generators and auxiliary equipment and systems; analyzes data; and takes remedial action to assure pre-operating and normal operating conditions.
Monitors water treatment equipment to ensure pre-operating and normal operating conditions.
Ensures compliance with all environmental operating permit conditions.
Performs regular preventive and corrective maintenance and tests on mechanical and electrical equipment and cleaning and painting of equipment.
Operates valves, switches and equipment to perform fuel transfer operations and monitors fuel systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with procedures.
Issues safety clearances for maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
Operates switches and uses tools to places electrical equipment such as busses and breakers in and out of service and to test breakers.
Compiles and analyzes data and produces reports, check-off sheets, log sheets and plant work orders.
Conducts safety meetings and ensures that safety rules are enforced, safe work practices are encouraged and unsafe conditions and behaviors are corrected.
Follow up with vendors on materials requested but not received.
Researches stock items to provide adequate manufacturers part information in inventory management system.
Resolves recurring inventory problems and discrepancies, such as obsolete vendor part numbers, in conjunction with Inventory Control and Procurement personnel.
Provides plant operational support to the manager.
Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
Operates vehicles and other mobile equipment, such as but not limited to; fork lift, scissor lift, JLG etc. in accordance with company procedures and policies as required.
Performs other job-related work as assigned.
OPEN REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years experience in a power generating facility, pulp and paper mill, military facility or similar facility which must include skilled work in at least one of the following:
- turbine propulsion systems;
- combustion turbines, and their auxiliary systems;
- steam turbines and their auxiliary systems;
- process steam boilers, including the combustion equipment and their auxiliary systems;
- electric generators and their auxiliary systems;
- air compressors, heat exchangers, high pressure lube oil: supply, transfer and storage systems;
- compressed gas storage and transfer systems, fuel oil storage and transfer systems;
- de-mineralized or de-ionized water treatment equipment;
- common plant electrical and instrument systems, other applicable systems/equipment;
- welding, mechanical maintenance, or heavy industrial mechanical work;
- process control systems and/or industrial electronics;
- industrial or commercial maintenance, installation or construction;
- jet propulsion engines or land based combustion turbines and their auxiliary systems
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
- A valid drivers license may be required prior to employment and may need to be maintained during employment in this classification. Varies by Assignment.
- Must meet the Coast Guards educational requirements for person in charge during fuel transfer operations at all stations prior to completion of the probationary period.
