Additional Information: Show/Hide Primary Purpose: The teacher will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in welding. The teacher will also prepare students to develop the competencies and skills required to earn various welding certifications. Important job functions include teaching the curriculum and managing student behavior/safety within classroom/shop settings.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Option 1:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Option 2:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
Option 3:
An associate's degree from an accredited institution
Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
Option 4:
A high school diploma or equivalent
Five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
Special Knowledge/Skills:
? Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of hand tools and power tools used in the career and technical industry. ? Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, business partners, and others in the community. ? Ability to prepare students for success on AWS welding exams. ? Community partnerships in the related industry that will allow students to connect to Work-Based Learning experiences. ? Knowledge of welding industry practices and the ability to prepare students for available careers. ? Ability to attain approved status to teach dual-enrolled courses in conjunction with local community colleges.
