BAE Systems is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer I to work within the Mobility and Fluid Power team on various combat vehicle programs. Mobility is consider all the parts that “make the vehicle move”. The design and development of these systems is integral to successfully delivering a quality product that support our armed forces. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Sterling Heights, MI facility. There is potential for limited travel with this role as Engineering Support at the Manufacturing Facility and the Test Facilities can be required. Expected travel is estimated at 10%. Due to COVID-19, this position will report as a hybrid role (onsite and remotely) at the discretion of the business.
As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will:
- Responsible for implementing any Engineering Change Proposals for product improvement
- Work with parts varying from Powertrain Integration, Cooling System, Air Intake, Exhaust System, and provide assistance to Fuel System Sizing as well as Vehicle Dynamics and Suspension
- Familiarize yourself with the BAE Systems Vehicle Development Process, which will feed into improved designs in the future

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- Must be able to use MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
- Must be comfortable with CAD software.
- Basic understanding of machine shops and / or low-rate production.
- 1 year of relevant experience or appropriate internship will be considered for this role.
