This is a temporary position set to last until March 2026.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Nutrition Education Manager, the SNAP-Ed Administrative Assistant will support the nutrition and health promotion program serving seven counties in Central Florida. This role provides administrative support to the Nutrition Education team, including managing purchasing, inventory, digital files, materials preparation, and participant engagement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting programs that improve the health of underserved communities.

hunger-relief organization in the United States. Second Harvest Food Bank secures and distributes food and grocery
products to more than 870 local nonprofit feeding partners throughout Central Florida. With the help of food and financial
donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributes 300,000 meals every day to a seven-county service area, which includes Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Feeding neighbors

Department Overview
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s (SHFB) guiding principle is that people facing hunger are at the center of all that we do. The Health and Hunger teams work is focused around increasing access to nutritious food and improving the diet quality of people experiencing hunger. SHFB recognizes that it has a central role to play in the health and wellness of the Central Florida community, where epidemic rates of chronic disease and skyrocketing healthcare costs make access to healthy food a critical factor for improved health. Second Harvest has developed strong partnerships within the community addressing the intersection between health and hunger.
Work Hours
Monday-Friday Normal Business Hours
No travel; hybrid schedule with a minimum of two days in office
Job Responsibilities
- Support coordination of purchasing needs for all team members, including pooling requests as they coming in, obtaining appropriate approvals, ensuring package delivery is recorded, and working collaboratively with SHFB finance and purchasing staff
- Maintain inventory and physical space at the SHFB Orlando office for all SNAP-ED supplies?
- Support participant registration for nutrition education sessions or other training/workshops by managing team calendar and registration websites?
- Serve as the programmatic point of contact for participants who call to obtain additional information about the program or sign up for a class?
- Assist Manager and Data Specialist in preparation of program reports?
- Take and distribute meeting minutes for recurring or special meetings?
- Develop and maintain digital file systems for staff that support maintaining detailed record keeping required for federal funding?
- Maintain files and tracking for all required training to be completed by programmatic staff, including required DCF training and professional development opportunities?
- Track and coordinate renewals for staff technology accounts, for services like Calendly, Canva, etc.
- Provide data entry support, as needed, in multiple data systems (Primarius and Pears)?
- Support Coordinators and Manager in preparing materials they need for classes (i.e.: printing and putting together binders, etc.)?
- Complete all required DCF training and any other required professional development training, including but not limited to topics around culturally responsive nutrition education approaches and trauma informed care.?

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience?
- Familiarity with office management systems, scheduling, and filing systems.?
- Understanding effective written and verbal communication techniques?
- Understanding of how to professionally handle interactions with clients or colleagues.?
- Knowledge of software like Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and/or other tools relevant to the department
- Capacity to identify issues and find solutions quickly and efficiently.?
- Keen observation skills to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.?
- Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay messages clearly and professionally.?
- Ability to manage calendars, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple assignments efficiently.?
- Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with or without assistance
- Ability to occasionally walk and bend, kneel, or squat
