As a Gas Scheduler, you will be responsible for managing the scheduling and coordination of natural gas transportation and distribution activities. The role will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders, including pipelines, suppliers, and customers, to ensure the efficient and cost-effective movement of natural gas. This role requires a deep understanding of gas scheduling, regulatory compliance, and the ability to resolve scheduling challenges in real-time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement gas scheduling strategies to optimize the use of transportation capacity.
- Negotiate and manage natural gas sales contracts, including gathering, processing, transportation, and purchase agreements.
- Coordinate with pipeline operators, marketers, producers, and counterparties to ensure confirmation and flow of scheduled volumes.
- Manage the daily scheduling of natural gas supplies, ensuring reliable and timely delivery to customers.
- Monitor pipeline notices, capacity constraints, and operational flow orders (OFOs); respond promptly to maintain compliance and avoid penalties.
- Track and reconcile daily and monthly gas imbalances; resolve discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain daily scheduling logs and reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Provide real-time support for resolving scheduling discrepancies, emergencies, and disruptions in the gas supply chain.
- Ensure adherence to all contractual, regulatory (e.g., FERC, NAESB), and operational requirements.
- Accurately input and maintain nomination data within internal systems and scheduling platforms.
- Assist with audit requests and support reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in natural gas marketing within an exploration & production or midstream company (preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Experience with ETRM systems (e.g., Allegro, Endur) or gas scheduling platforms.
- Ability to interpret and respond to operational flow orders, critical notices, and maintenance events.
