About SPS Companies:
Established in 1951, SPS Companies, Inc. is a wholesale distributor of products and services for residential and commercial plumbing, mechanical and industrial piping, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and fire protection. We currently have seven plumbing locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Colorado, with SPS Kitchen and Bath Showrooms at our St. Louis Park, Mankato, and Bismarck locations. In addition to plumbing and heating, we also have a fire protection division and a roofing and sheet metal division.
Position Overview
The Inside HVAC Salesperson is responsible for driving sales of HVAC products and solutions to contractors, builders, and other professional customers. This role is based in-house and focuses on building strong relationships, providing technical product support, processing orders, and achieving sales targets through effective communication and industry expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking HVAC products, parts, and supplies via phone, email, and in-person at the sales counter.
Provide accurate and timely quotations and process sales orders for contractors and professional clients.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of HVAC and plumbing products to recommend solutions that meet customer needs and project requirements.
Maintain up-to-date product knowledge, including new product launches, technical specifications, and industry trends.
Support customers with technical questions, troubleshooting, and product selection, leveraging available resources and manufacturer support as needed.
Collaborate with outside sales representatives and other team members to ensure seamless customer service and maximize sales opportunities.
Follow up on quotes, monitor order status, and proactively communicate with customers regarding delivery timelines and any issues.
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, quotes, orders, and customer interactions in the company’s CRM or order management system.
Support branch operations by assisting with non-sales-related tasks as needed (e.g., merchandising, returns, administrative duties).
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
1–3 years of inside sales experience, preferably in HVAC, plumbing, or wholesale distribution environments.
Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing products, systems, and terminology.
Proven ability to build relationships and deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Proficient with computers and sales/order entry software; experience with CRM systems is a plus.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or industry training is a plus.
Previous experience quoting and writing sales orders for contractors is highly desirable.
Strong work ethic and desire to excel in a sales-driven role.
