Description

The Behavior Health Technician performs clinical work with a high degree of autonomy within this Intermediate Care Facility providing comprehensive habilitation services to persons with a primary diagnosis of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. The Behavior Health Technician works flexible days and hours across diverse environments within this facility consistent with assigned work tasks. The Behavior Health Technician performs professional work as designated by the consulting Psychologist and/or License Behavioral Specialist including the implementation of behavioral modification intervention components of an individual’s Positive Behavioral Support Plan and behavior goals as designated. The Behavior Health Technician is empowered to assure that assigned individuals receive appropriate, individualized psych-social and behavioral services to facilitate active treatment by way of an efficient Interdisciplinary Process. This is a salaried, exempt position. 


Shifts Available:

8am-4:30pm: Monday thru Friday


Contributions

  • Provides and supports client care delivery in accordance with established practice standards and facility/departmental/regulatory/payor policies and procedures for clinical setting and populations served. 
  • Provide direct one-on-one therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a Behavior Consultant.
  • Maintain therapeutic records and data necessary to monitor progress.
  • Utilizes behavioral modification methodology/techniques to produce socially significant improvements in human behavior or to prevent loss of attained skill or function, through client skill acquisition and the reduction of problematic behavior.
  • Assists interdisciplinary teams in implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans and goals for each assigned individual.
  • Attends interdisciplinary team meetings as needed and completes all required documentation for assigned clients.
  • Acts as an advocate for assigned individuals ensuring that treatment, care and training appropriately address each assigned individual’s psycho-social and behavior needs consistent with standards of service excellence.
  • Models sensitivity, courtesy and cooperation in all interactions with persons served, staff and the public to facilitate positive working and living relationships.
  • Performs related work tasks and special projects with purpose and performance standards provided at the time of assignment.
  • Attend regular required supervision meetings, individual supervisory sessions, and required trainings.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for clients, visitors and staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and one of the following:
  • Have a certification as a BCaBA
  • Have a certification as an RBT
  • Have a certification as an BCAT
  • Have a behavioral health certification or behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute
  • 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the provision of behavioral health services
  • 1-3 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities (IDD)
  • Must have Act 33 and Act 34 clearances. 
  • Requires familiarity with Windows operating systems, email communication, word processing and spreadsheet software. 
  • On-the-job training is provided by Psychologist, Behavioral Specialist, Habilitation Services Manager and other related personnel on various treatment techniques and interdepartmental methods and procedures.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License.
