IPS - Rubbercraft is seeking a Tooling Supervisor who is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, inventory, and performance of all tools used in the manufacturing process. This role ensures tools are available, properly maintained, and meet quality standards to support efficient production operations. The Tool Supervisor leads a team of tool technicians and collaborates with engineering, production, and quality departments to optimize tooling performance and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the tooling department, including tool maintenance, repair, and inventory control.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure tooling availability and readiness for scheduled jobs.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend tool life and reduce unexpected failures.
  • Monitor tool performance and recommend improvements or replacements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool usage, maintenance history, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Train and mentor tool technicians and ensure proper use of equipment and tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering to support new tooling designs and modifications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Manage and support customer audits.

 

Job Specifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

Years Experience: 5+ years of experience in tooling or manufacturing operations, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory role.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing tools, molding processes, and tool maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and inventory software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and occasional lifting.
  • May require standing for extended periods and occasional overtime or weekend work.
