Under the general direction and supervision of the Community Center/Recreation Director, the Basketball Gym Attendant will be the onsite staff contact person for the Fitchburg Recreation Youth Basketball Program.
This position will be approximately 10-15 hours per week and ideal candidates will need to be available Monday - Thursday evenings and Saturdays. Must be able to provide their own transportation to and from the site.
Position Duties
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for the position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor facility, school site, gymnasium, equipment, and participants.
- Maintain a safe playing atmosphere and environment.
- Set up all equipment as needed before practices and games.
- Monitor condition of equipment, recommending replacement when needed.
- Return facility to the original state at the conclusion of practices and games.
- Provide a central reference point for all site and program-related inquiries by participants, coaches, and the public.
- Complete accident/incident reports as needed.

- Minimum age requirement: 16 years.

- Ability to communicate with the public.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, and the general public.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and groups.
Physical Demands:
Light work: Exerting 31-75 lbs seldom. Exerting 11-30 lbs occasionally, and/or 0-10 lbs frequently. Frequently standing, walking, and sitting.
Work Environment:
Inside work is 100% of the time. Occasional exposure to moderate noise. Exposure to hazards of risk of bodily injury, heat/cold extremes, loud noise, odors, dust and poor ventilation is seldom.
