RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise.  We are seeking a growth-oriented candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team.  The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Industrial Engineer - Material Flow

As an Industrial Engineer you will play a key role in optimizing how components and materials move through the manufacturing process. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and sustaining efficient material delivery systems that ensure the right parts are delivered to the right place, at the right time. You will work cross-functionally with operations, supply management, and logistics teams to enhance production flow, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and sustain material flow strategies and replenishment systems that improve production efficiency and on-time material delivery.

  • Lead projects to streamline internal logistics processes, optimize part presentation, and enhance the flow of materials through the manufacturing system.

  • Use SAP and other ERP tools to manage part delivery schedules, inventory accuracy, and packaging requirements.

  • Develop and execute layout designs and simulations to support lean manufacturing and ergonomic material handling improvements.

  • Coordinate with supply management, manufacturing engineering, and warehousing teams to drive consistency in structured material flow processes.

  • Provide work direction and process training to material handling personnel to ensure standardized practices are followed.

  • Identify and implement digital tools and automation opportunities that improve visibility, data accuracy, and process performance.

  • Lead time studies, work measurement activities, and labor standardization in support of incentive pay systems and continuous improvement plans.

  • Collaborate across departments—including safety, maintenance, facilities, and logistics—to ensure material handling methods meet performance, safety, and ergonomic standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, material flow, or logistics.

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, production system principles, and process optimization techniques.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

Desired Attributes

  • Hands-on experience with material flow engineering, factory layout design, or internal logistics planning.

  • Working knowledge of simulation and digital line design tools such as AutoCAD, FactoryCAD, or MPPlanner.

  • Familiarity with electronic Kanban systems, trigger-based replenishment, and warehouse-managed environments.

  • Knowledge of capital project justification and budgeting processes.
  • Experience conducting work measurement studies and applying time standards.

  • Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel, and database management tools.
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools such as Power BI.

Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000/year commensurate with experience
