What You'll Do:
The Repair Machinist is primarily responsible to repair molds and components of production fixtures, assembly tools, and machines. Additionally, sets up and operates all standard tool room equipment including conventional mills, lathes, and surface grinders. Verifies dimensional accuracy of part detail.
What We're Looking For:
• Build and assemble components for fixtures, assembly tools, and machines.
• Identify, procure and maintain a critical spare parts inventory system.
• Set up, adjust and operate all standard tool room equipment including conventional mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
• Reading blueprints and accurately interpret the blueprints for tolerances and dimensions for building parts.
• Create and program CNC codes for Fryer CNC Controls on mill and lathe machines.
• Assemble and disassemble tools and fixtures.
•Studies blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications to determine methods and sequence of operations to fabricate fixturing.
•Fabricate and implement new fixtures that increase productivity and reduce scrap and costs based on in-house designs
•Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
•Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setting up and production
• Repair molds, fixtures and other tooling.
• Verify dimensional accuracy of part detail.
• Maintains 5S in work areas and tooling to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Work with minimal supervision proactively maintaining tooling and fixtures in the production area.
• Support movement, installation and qualification of production equipment.
• Understand and follow the SOP’s pertaining to the specific area.
• Understand and follow the Work Instructions pertaining to the specific area.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills That Make a Difference:
- Successful completion of four-years of High School, or equivalent.
- Preferred completion of two years of college or graduation from a two-year technical college with an associates degree preferably with a focus in tool & die repair, fabrication and design.
- Over five years and up to seven years of experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ability to read/understand blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to use standard inspection tools.
- Previous machine shop experience.
- Ability to produce precision parts according to print.
- Experience with conventional machine tools
