Primary purpose:

The Sr. Land Technician will serve as a critical support role for CO₂ sequestration projects and operations, responsible for managing landowner communications, GIS mapping, lease review, and recordkeeping. This position will enable the department to operate more efficiently by bringing key functions in-house, supporting permitting, seismic activities, and project operations.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Notice Management: Prepare, send, and track notices related to permitting, leasing, and regulatory requirements.
  • GIS Mapping & Owner Lookup: Maintain and update GIS maps; quickly identify landowners for project teams, surface landmen, and regulatory needs.
  • Seismic Support: Assist seismic teams by providing owner information and facilitating landowner notifications.
  • Lease Review & Management: Review lease packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance; coordinate transfer of lease documents to administrative staff.
  • Lease & Ownership Records: Maintain a comprehensive, organized database of all leases, owner contacts, and land rights for unitization, permitting, and budgeting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multiple departments to support land activities and project timelines.
  • Data Entry & Documentation: Ensure all land-related data is accurately recorded and easily accessible for audits and reporting.
  • Collaborate with a variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism. 
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special projects may be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Land Management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, or a related discipline, or seven years equivalent experience.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in land administration, land management, or related fields.
  • Proven experience with land management, GIS, or land administration.
  • Familiarity with lease agreements, permitting processes, and landowner communications.
  • Proficiency in GIS software, Microsoft Office, and land record databases.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to require work schedules, and follow company policies. 
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines and prioritize work.

Working Conditions:

  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Candidates will be required to clear a drug screen and complete a background check, including a credit report for certain positions after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • None.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position: 

  • Experience in oil & gas, environmental, or land management sectors.
  • Knowledge of seismic operations and project permitting.
  • Strong communication skills for owner and stakeholder engagement.

Compensation:

  • The hourly range for this position will be $43.99-$48.80/hr.
