$15/hour; Tuesday/Thursday; 8:45-11:45a; approx 6 hours/week; possibility of additional hours with Enrichment and Exploration classes; 1 meeting per month 12-1p

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the Preschool Teacher, the Preschool Teacher Aide is responsible for the instruction, and planning of preschool classes, organizing the classroom, and assisting in maintaining and implementing budgets for individual classes.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Must possess a high school diploma.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position.
- Must have an interest in working in the recreation industry with early childhood participants.
- Must understand the principles of customer service and client relations.
- Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.
- Must be able to interact well with children and display high levels of patience and creativity.
- Ability to communicate including sighted and auditory comprehension and verbal and writing ability.
- Manipulate small pieces of paper, scissors, craft supplies, small toys, and other classroom equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:
- Assist with promoting the emotional, physical, mental and social wellbeing in the classroom environment.
- Prepare class materials that include but are not limited to, cutting paper, pasting, copying, stapling, retrieving materials from storage and other materials as needed.
- Assist the instructor with various activities in the classroom, such as craft projects, snack time and getting children to assemble in line.
- Communicate accurate information from parents to instructor.
- Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Participate in all pre-employment and in-service training.
- Assist with general cleanup of the classroom and preparation for the following day.
- Reinforce appropriate safety practices and standard.
- Support and administer all policies of the Roselle Park District.
- Take over teaching duties when need arises.
