Overview:

Our Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and sustaining a structured quality management system for the plant. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution to strengthen product quality, reduce risk, and align with industry-recognized best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in quality methodologies, including familiarity with ISO 9001 principles, Lean, and Six Sigma, and will be able to apply these concepts pragmatically to improve systems that fit the plant’s needs.

 

The Quality Engineer will partner closely with Operations, Process Engineering, and leadership to deliver measurable improvements in compliance, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Quality System Development

  • Lead efforts to design, implement, and maintain a structured quality system aligned with customer requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop and sustain control plans, FMEAs, work instructions, and related documentation.
  • Administer and optimize SPC systems and methodologies.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Apply statistical tools (DOE, gage R&R, root cause analysis) to monitor processes and prevent nonconformities.
  • Drive corrective and preventive action processes, reducing scrap, rework, and warranty exposure.
  • Establish metrics and dashboards to track and report on process and product performance.

Audit & Compliance

  • Conduct internal reviews and supplier assessments to ensure adherence to customer expectations and quality principles.
  • Support preparation for customer audits and third-party assessments as required.

Training & Leadership

  • Train and mentor employees in quality tools and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across the plant.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in quality, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 5+ years of progressive quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing or improving structured quality systems; familiarity with ISO 9001 principles is a plus.
  • Proficiency with SPC, Lean/Six Sigma, and advanced problem-solving methodologies.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred; Six Sigma certification strongly valued.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills influence across levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply structured methods (e.g., root cause analysis, DOE, gage R&R).
  • Familiarity with recognized quality frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001 principles, APQP) and the ability to apply these concepts pragmatically, even in non-certified environments.
  • Solid understanding of SPC tools and ability to interpret data to drive process improvements.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and use measurement tools effectively.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to engage across all levels of the organization.
  • Hands-on mindset with a visible presence on the plant floor, balanced with strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience building, improving, or revitalizing quality systems.
