Job Summary: 

The Production Machinist will be primarily responsible for operating a HAAS VMC machining center along with other equipment (as needed) in our R&D and Manufacturing Department. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of machining techniques and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a dedication to producing high-quality work, and the ability to handle diverse machining challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Machining and Fabrication: Operate and maintain manual and CNC machines including lathes, mills, and grinders. Execute precision machining tasks according to specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings. Must be able to properly and efficiently set up equipment for each job/project. Must be proficient with tooling, clamps, jigs, etc. used in machining applications. Experience with HAAS CNC’s strongly preferred.
  • Programming: Must be able to program G-Code on a post processor to run on a CNC machine.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to determine machining requirements and ensure accurate production.
  • Quality Control: Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances. Inspect finished parts to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues promptly.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Organize and manage work assignments to ensure timely completion of projects. Coordinate with team members and other departments as needed.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in CNC machines. Experience with complex machining tasks and precision work is essential. Technical Certifications may be considered in lieu of/addition to experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining principles, methods, and techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to diagnose and address machining issues effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work and meeting exacting standards.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in CNC programming and familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) and (CAM).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally over 100 pounds. Capability to work in varying environmental conditions and on uneven surfaces.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of a machinist apprenticeship or trade school program is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ yrs, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Physical: Frequent use of hands to operate tools and equipment, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting. Visual acuity required for detailed work.
  • Mental: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks with changing deadlines. Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain focus on quality and safety.
