About the Department
This technician-level position is responsible for performing skilled general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all Leon County Sheriff's Office buildings and related systems. Duties include installation, modification, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance across a variety of building systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
The technician works independently to plan, prioritize, and complete maintenance activities in compliance with agency policies, government regulations, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practices.

Position Duties
Perform routine preventive maintenance on facilities, tools, and equipment.
Proactively identify, troubleshoot, test, adjust, and repair minor issues related to facilities, machines, and equipment within assigned areas of responsibility. Notify appropriate personnel of problems requiring advanced troubleshooting or repair.
Operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment in performing repair and maintenance activities.
Prepare and maintain logs, records, and reports of daily activities.
Monitor inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; notify appropriate individuals when replenishment is required.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to provide professional and courteous customer service to both the public and agency staff.
Ability to prepare and present clear, accurate, concise, and objective written and oral reports. Ability to meet and maintain required licensures, certifications, and agency-mandated in-service training.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Reliability in reporting to work on time, consistently, and as scheduled.
Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Knowledge of maintenance principles and practices as applied to buildings and other structures preferred.
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull 75-100 pounds independently.
- Position has an increased risk of occupational exposure to hazardous and infectious materials.
- Work is performed in a variety of environments to include outdoors, indoors, fluctuating temperatures and weather.
