Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in San Jose, California.

Work You’ll Do
Perform detailed technical reviews of partnership and corporate state tax returns and work papers with attention to multistate tax issues, including apportionment, state modifications, nexus, unitary filings, and flow-through taxation. Coordinate with an in-house tax preparation team within Deloitte and with clients’ tax department. Perform detailed review of estimated payment and withholding calculations and related filings. Research state tax legislation and assisting with analyzing impact on compliance. Collaborate on various tax consulting projects including notice resolution, business/nonbusiness analysis and filing methodology analysis and accounting for income taxes. Assist with engagement workflow management and supervising tax consultants and interns on assigned engagements. Will commute within the San Jose, CA area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements
Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in accounting, finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience applying state and local rules to corporate and partnership clients.

Experience must include eighteen months of:

  • providing income and franchise tax consulting, and tax planning services for multistate companies;
  • preparing state income, franchise tax workpapers and returns for C-Corporations and preparing withholding and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies in multi-state jurisdictions;
  • preparing and reviewing state income tax extensions, quarterly estimates, K-1s, provisions, and returns for pass-through entities and corporations based on varying state regulations;
  • utilizing tax software and tools, including Corptax, GoSystem, and SuperForms, to prepare state and local income tax returns;
  • utilizing tax research tools, including Bloomberg and CCH, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients and researching tax law and updates and respond to state tax notices;
  • analyzing clients’ sales, payroll, and property information for each state, and computing the state apportionment percentage;
  • identifying critical tax matters from state legislation, applying to clients, and assisting clients with compliance;
  • assisting with mediating between clients and state revenue departments to resolve state tax notices and other tax-related issues/inquiries; and
  • mentoring and coaching junior team members.
  • Less than 10% domestic travel outside normal commuting distance.

Annual Salary: $81,620.00 - $151,580.00.
