The Workforce Coordinator, part of the Before and After School Program, will assist with Curriculum implementation and design, with a focus on Career Exploration for school-age students.  The Workforce Coordinator would be responsible for providing meaningful career exploration studies by working with local workforce unions and other community partners who visit schools, providing materials, lessons, and presentations to students. The coordinator will forge relationships with new stakeholders who will support the continuation of career exploration on a yearly basis. This role includes administrative oversight of education programs, in accordance with YMCA quality standards. The position supports the work of the YMCA; a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The coordinator supports the Sr. Association Director with operations of the career exploration study and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes all children and families while promoting and maintaining a strong educational program in accordance with the YMCA and licensing and quality requirements.

What You’ll Do





  • Create curriculum with a specific focus on career exploration for School Age Students to be implemented by the coordinator across all BASE sites
  • Coordinates with outside organizations and companies to provide speakers and supplies for students to experiment with during specific career studies themes and units
  • Communicate with directors, supervisor, and school site leads about projects, visits, and supplies needed
  • Communicate, and maintain program statistics and audits to monitor and evaluate the quality of the BOOST program
  • Create an evaluation method for volunteers and participants to complete after each unit or project theme wrap up to gauge student interest and success of each unit/theme
  • Support leadership by recruiting diverse volunteers who will act as educators for specific themes and units which pertain to their skill and trade. Works with the Director of Volunteer Engagement to complete all volunteer expectation for each
  • Engage the community to meet the needs of the families served
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
  • Ensure that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with peers, parents and educators, and community organizations (e.g., state childcare licensing agency, school administration) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility
  • Participate in activities to support family engagement and participate in Y activities, such as committees, special events, and fundraising
  • Perform any duties deemed necessary by the supervisor

Qualifications


What You'll Need


  • A Bachelor’s Degree, one year experience working with children OR
  • Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children preferred
  • Availability flexible but must be able to work until at least 6 pm.  
  • Experience creating lesson plans and
  • Ability to evaluate and report on student and staff participation
  • Supervisory experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to evaluate and report on program success
  • Must keep an up-to-date DHS file with a current physical
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

 


Work Conditions and Physical Demands



The worker will be in both indoor and outdoor settings with varying weather conditions subject to some temperature fluctuations.  Demands include (but are not limited to): Visual acuity, talking, hearing, lifting (up to 40lbs. independently, more than 50lbs. with assistance), walking, stooping, rising, kneeling, crouching, sitting or standing (for sustained periods of time), reaching, pushing, pulling, balancing, climbing, feeling, grasping and other repetitive motions of the hands, fingers and wrists.
