JOB SUMMARY:
The Rental Equipment Technician is responsible for issuing, adjusting, and maintaining ski and snowboard rental equipment for guests in a fast-paced environment. This role ensures that each guest is matched with appropriate gear based on their size and ability, while upholding Mission Ridge’s service standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, guest-focused, and able to balance technical equipment tasks with strong interpersonal service.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:
- Equipment Recommendation & Fitting: Quote rental rates and recommend ski or snowboard equipment suited to guest size and ability.
- Guest Information Recording: Use touchscreen scanners to accurately record guest information.
- Equipment Issuance: Issue rental equipment promptly and efficiently, ensuring proper fit and guest safety.
- Customer Experience: Deliver professional and friendly service, maintaining consistency with Mission Ridge’s guest service standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, adjust, and maintain rental equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Reading & Comprehension: Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Written Communication: Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence clearly and accurately.
- Verbal Communication: Confident in speaking with individuals and groups, including guests and coworkers.
- Math Proficiency: Able to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Problem-Solving: Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions delivered in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Situational Adaptability: Handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations with efficiency and calmness.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. One to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred, though equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Employees must obtain current ski binding certifications, which will be provided and facilitated by the employer.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, as well as bend, reach, and lift light to moderately heavy objects. Employees must be able to move efficiently within the shop and interact with equipment and guests regularly. Clear communication, focus, and attention to safety are essential during guest interactions and busy operating periods.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Rental Equipment Technician primarily works indoors in a busy, guest-facing environment. The pace can be fast, especially during weekends and peak holiday periods. The workspace involves close interaction with coworkers and guests, moderate noise levels, and exposure to winter sports equipment. On occasion, there will be a requirement to be outdoors to collect equipment or move between work stations and exposure to winter conditions. -The position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: REGULARLY
-Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: REGULARLY
-Must be able to write, type, and use phone system
