Position Location Policy

  • General Location: Cleveland highly preferred.

    • Hybrid Requirement (if within specific cities): If the selected candidate resides in Cleveland, OH, Buffalo, NY, or Albany, NY, they are expected to work on-site 2 days per week at the nearest KeyBank office (non-branch location).

    • Remote Option: If the selected candidate lives outside of KeyBank’s geographic footprint, the position will be considered fully remote.

    • Available for East Coast meetings, required

The Project Manager will lead multiple strategic initiatives aligned with KeyBank’s corporate objectives, initially focusing on a high-priority projects in the Commercial Generative AI . Success requires close collaboration with Technical Leads, Business Analysts, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. The Project Manager serves as the central driver of execution, bridging business needs with technical delivery, ensuring scope clarity, and maintaining momentum across all project phases. Key responsibilities include managing activities through planning, development, and testing, documenting business requirements, creating actionable plans and milestones, coordinating test strategies, and managing project financials. Additional duties include managing scope changes, maintaining traceability documentation, escalating risks and dependencies, and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. The ideal candidate will lead Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid initiatives across Commercial Onboarding and Servicing portfolio with a focus on Generative AI initiatives, and provide guidance on Agile methodologies including but not limited to  quarterly PI Planning and sprint reviews..

The Project Manager must also ensure project related solutions comply with KeyBank’s enterprise security, IT and operational standards, separation of duty protocols, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, testing

strategies, and resource allocation for multiple concurrent projects.

  • Facilitate and lead high-priority meetings with stakeholders at all levels, driving consensus, clarifying objectives, and maintaining project momentum.

  • Oversee and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including requirements, test plans, and stakeholder signoffs, while ensuring critical requirements are identified, aligned with business and technology needs, and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate with business analysts to translate high-level business goals into actionable tasks, test cases, and deliverables.

  • Proactively identify, escalate, and manage project risks, scope deviations, dependencies, and potential blockers, ensuring transparency, timely resolution, and effective communication of changes and impacts across teams and systems to safeguard project timelines.

  • Collaborate with Technical Leads, internal and external partners to ensure technical feasibility, integration points, and solution alignment, including understanding of system architecture and dependencies.

  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities while leading and supporting project teams which could include off-hours to ensure timely progress, testing, and successful releases.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree for candidates with minimum 3 years of equivalent work experience

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years in a Project Manager or Agile role, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects valued at $500,000 or more
    OR minimum 5 years in a similar role without a degree, with demonstrated success in managing projects exceeding $500,000

  • Project Planning/Orchestration: Refining goals, scope, and creating detailed plans in conjunction with Product Owners.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills, including executive level presentations, i.e.. summarization of projects in portfolio

  • Experience managing Agile/Kanban squads and projects in Jira.

  • Background in overseeing data-driven projects in complex integrated environments with systems of record and data tables, including experience interpreting KPIs and data quality metrics.

  • Experience in gathering business, functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Experience in Leading through Influence and navigating difficult conversations.

  • Budgeting: Managing and monitoring project budgets and controlling costs in conjunction with Product Owners.

  • Risk: Experience uncovering, identifying and escalating risk related to technology project implementations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  •  Experience with Generative AI deployment and enterprise systems such as, Jira, Jira Align, Confluence

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

  • CAPM or PMP Certification, preferred

  • CSM Certification, preferred

  • Agile Scrum Master, preferred

SKILLS

  • Project Management Expertise: Proficient in Agile/Kanban squad management, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies; skilled in planning, execution, and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Experience with Generative AI, data-driven projects, and tools like Jira, Confluence, and Jira Align.

  • Communication & Leadership: Strong written/verbal communication; executive presentations and adept at stakeholder management and leading through influence.

  • Data-Driven Project Oversight: Led complex initiatives involving integrated systems, data tables, and systems of record; skilled in interpreting KPIs and data quality metrics to drive informed decisions.

  • Risk Management: Proven ability to mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with IT and regulatory standards.

  • Requirements & Documentation: Skilled in gathering business/technical requirements and maintaining clear, traceable documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment: Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face-to-face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.

TRAVEL /DRIVING REQUIRMENTS

  • May need to travel to corporate office or for industry conferences

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $X to $Xannually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
