About The Role
As an M&A Associate, you’ll take charge and run point on Baton’s active deals. Baton works with small business owners (businesses worth anywhere from $100k to $10M+) to ensure they are fairly compensated for their life's work. This role is similar to a Managing Director at a sell-side investment bank, as we bring the level of sophistication that an investment bank provides for $50M+ businesses to the small businesses we support. Moreover, you will partner closely with our executive team, sales team, and product team to create a winning (and scalable) process that drives Baton’s top line.
On a day-to-day basis, you will...
Drive negotiations for dozens of business acquisitions
Guide business owners through the selling process and advise on the strategy
Qualify and pitch buyers on Baton’s deals
Partner with the team to guide the product roadmap
Advise our valuations team on how to more accurately underwrite small businesses
Work with the executive team to grow Baton to support millions of small business owners
About You
You are passionate about helping people become successful small business owners and get paid for their life’s work
2+ years of investment banking or M&A advisory or similar finance experience
2+ years of startup experience
Experience interfacing with customers and managing complex interpersonal issues
Experience with financial modeling, Excel, and CRMs
You happily balance the high-level and low-level work; you wear many hats and are hands-on where needed to get things done; you pride yourself in being gritty
You fancy yourself an expert negotiator and are excited to continue learning
