The Olympic Club, a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks a part-time Rowing Coach. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy 2 campuses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and 5 Food & Beverage outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.
The Olympic Club offers employees free golf on Mondays at our Lakeside campus and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year as well as lunch and dinner provided every day.
Position Summary: The newly formed Olympic Club Rowing program is in need of a coach to run practices, coach races, recruit players, and help administer the program. The administration of the program is in partnership with our sport Commissioners (club members from the team who help oversee it) and our athletics department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Preparation and conducting of regular practices for team and individuals
- Oversee athletic training and conditioning
- Provide technical support and training to athletes specific to the sport
- Travel to necessary competitions
- Manage rosters and assign individuals to appropriate positions
- Support recruiting strategies
- Bolster teamwork, engagement, and dedication
- Oversee logistical duties related to practices and competition
- Implement appropriate sporting techniques
- Maintain necessary certifications and trainings required for coaching this specific sport
Estimated Weekly Job Responsibilities:
- Coach an average of 4 hours a week (in-season) of regular scheduled Rowing Practices.
- Travel an average of 3 times per month (in-season) to outside competitions.
- Admin work, planning, scouting, research and practice planning average of 1 hour per week.
Qualifications Required:
- Ability to communicate fluently in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- Minimum Experience required: 3 years in Rowing coaching, preferably with collegiate or adult coaching experience.
- Level 1 US Rowing Certification
- Skills Required: Excellent verbal and written skills. Proven leadership & problem-solving abilities.
