A CAREER WITH POINT72’S TECHNOLOGY TEAM
As Point72 reimagines the future of investing, our Technology group is constantly improving our company’s IT infrastructure, positioning us at the forefront of a rapidly evolving technology landscape. We’re a team of experts experimenting, discovering new ways to harness the power of open-source solutions, and embracing enterprise agile methodology. We encourage professional development to ensure you bring innovative ideas to our products while satisfying your own intellectual curiosity.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and evolution of highly scalable, available, and secure database architectures across multiple platforms (SQL, NoSQL, Cloud-native). Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into optimal database solutions that support enterprise-level applications, ensuring alignment with organizational growth and data strategy goals.
• Conduct in-depth performance analysis by profiling queries, analyzing execution plans, and implementing indexing strategies to improve efficiency. Proactively identify and address bottlenecks, optimize system resource utilization, and recommend architectural enhancements to support high-throughput, low-latency environments.
• Champion database security by designing and enforcing robust access control policies, encryption standards, and auditing frameworks. Ensure full compliance with internal governance, industry regulations, and business continuity requirements. Regularly assess vulnerabilities and implement updates to safeguard sensitive information.
• Implement advanced monitoring tools and alerting systems to proactively detect anomalies and performance issues. Serve as the technical expert for diagnosing complex database incidents, performing root cause analysis, and driving rapid resolution to maintain uptime and service levels for mission-critical systems.
• Design and deploy automation frameworks to streamline database management tasks, including deployment pipelines, schema changes, patch management, backup schedules, and disaster recovery processes. Leverage scripting, orchestration tools, and Infrastructure-as-Code principles to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.
• Partner closely with software development, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams throughout the application lifecycle. Provide technical leadership on database integration, recommending design patterns, data modeling best practices, and performance improvements to support robust and scalable application delivery.
• Maintain clear, detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, performance metrics, and recovery procedures. Ensure documentation is up to date and accessible, enabling effective knowledge transfer, team onboarding, and compliance audits.
WHAT’S REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of database management experience, specializing in monitoring, observability, performance optimization, and disaster recovery.
• Expertise in leading database platforms — MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, MySQL — and related infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).
• Strong public cloud database experience, including AWS RDS, Aurora, Snowflake, and MongoDB Atlas.
• Proven skills in database automation and SRE design/implementation using Python, Java, and related programming languages.
• Extensive experience in data modeling, database architecture, and ETL processes for large-scale systems.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tooling — e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins — for CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with big data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities in complex, high-performance environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently or in fast-paced team settings.
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards.
