General Manager
Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for leading branch operations to deliver safe, efficient, and profitable water well drilling and pump service projects. This role requires a hands-on leader who can build strong teams, enforce operational discipline, and drive continuous improvement. The General Manager is accountable for safety performance, project execution, financial results, and workforce development.
Responsibilities:
Operations & Performance
- Oversee all operational, administrative, and strategic functions of the branch.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to client specifications.
- Monitor utilization of equipment, crews, and resources to maximize efficiency.
- Drive consistent housekeeping, equipment readiness, and field discipline.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example in promoting a zero-incident safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Partner with the Safety team to proactively address risks and improve safety performance.
Financial Management
- Manage branch P&L, including revenue, gross profit, and cost control.
- Track job costs and implement corrective actions where needed.
- Provide accurate and timely operational and financial reporting.
People & Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and hold managers accountable for crew performance.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Support and implement Hydro University training and advancement programs.
- Develop next-level leaders within the branch.
Strategic Contribution
- Identify and implement process improvements that reduce costs or increase productivity.
- Standardize best practices across crews and operations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support growth and long-term strategic goals.
Qualifications:
Required
- 10+ years of leadership experience in drilling, heavy construction, utilities, or related industries.
- Proven track record of managing multi-crew operations with responsibility for safety, schedule, and budget.
- Strong understanding of operational metrics, cost drivers, and financial performance.
- Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and hold teams accountable.
- Excellent communication skills, effective with both crews and executives.
Preferred
- Experience with water well drilling or water pump service operations.
- Background in workforce development or structured training programs.
- Multi-branch or regional operations management experience.
