Primary Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Perform general nursing duties in a busy orthopedic practice
- Perform suture/staple removal
- Perform wound care/dressing changes
- Drawing up meds; calling in medications
- Application of sterile fields
- Application and removal of casts and splints
- Locate any necessary imaging, test results, or reports for upcoming appointments
- Schedule and precert MRI’S, lab work, procedures, and surgeries
- Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for the clinic, power up computers, etc.
- Prepare for the clinic by printing out patient information as requested by the physician
- Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
- Assist other team members as needed
- Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed
- Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
- Obtain the physician’s signature on miscellaneous forms
- Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, providing various forms of patient education and handouts, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and charting patient messages, and communicating test results to patients with direction from a physician
Must also possess:
- HS/GED required
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, DOC physicians, and staff
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Outstanding organizational, verbal, and writing skills
- Independent, self-starting, and highly motivated
- Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
- Proven positive, “teamwork” attitude and work history
- Minimum one-year full-time clinical experience in healthcare preferred
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to use arms, hands, and fingers skillfully
- Frequent moving, pushing, and pulling of heavy patients and equipment
- Constant standing and walking
- Must be agile and able to work efficiently in limited space areas
- Consistently work at a productive pace
- Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
