Devoted to providing technical support, administration and maintenance of a department’s technology systems and equipment, including user support, data management and data extraction/analysis. Incumbents provide specialized technology support work. Decision-making includes how and when tasks are carried out within an operational process, limited by the selection of the process and establishment of deadlines and outcomes.
Responsible for providing specialized technology support work in updating and verifying data; producing reports and other documents; or supporting a department’s hardware/software systems including tier one and two user support and troubleshooting.
Position Duties
- Provides specialized technology work in support of department users including installing, updating, testing, troubleshooting issues related to department technology systems; identifies and produces video evidence, as assigned; manages small to medium databases; updates, verifies, edits, digitizes, and/or extracts data; and creates maps and maintains map layers, as assigned.
- Prepares, maintains, reviews, and/or submits reports, records, files, construction drawings and plans, spreadsheets, digital signage, and other documents; manages user accounts and processes payment information; updates and maintains databases and online systems; compiles, edits, queries, and/or reconciles information; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinates with vendors, City departments and/or external agencies to respond to, resolve, and/or escalate end-user issues; collects field data; may train staff; inspects assigned systems and equipment to ensure proper working condition; assists with process improvement and planning efforts.
- Assists with budget preparation and/or procurement; processes purchase order and monitors inventory, as assigned; researches product, price, vendor, and related information; coordinates asset management tagging, as assigned; tests new technology; and assists in making budget and procurement recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or directly related field OR equivalent experience.
- Three years of related technology support experience
