The role

We are looking for European Buyer to join the established team in Doncaster. You will be responsible for administrative tasks, componentry buying, purchasing goods from Europe and harnessing the network of suppliers within the group. This role requires strong negotiation skills, market knowledge, and the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams to expand the portfolio of both Pharma and Non pharm lines. The European Buyer will play a key role in supply chain management, inventory control, portfolio development for UK & Ireland and vendor management.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities

  • Sourcing & Procurement:
    • Research and identify potential new products and new suppliers within Europe
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure product availability and best pricing.
    • Negotiate on pricing for components
    • Maximise Inter group purchases
    • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure consistency in volumes, competitive pricing and improve leadtimes
  • Market Analysis:
    • Conduct market research to identify trends, new products, and supply chain opportunities within the EU, Using tools such as Iqvia, MPA, PCA data
    • Keep up-to-date with European market conditions, including currency fluctuations, tariffs (if applicable), and regulations that could affect procurement.
  • Inventory & Stock Management:
    • Coordinate logistics and liaise with operations to ensure timely and accurate inventory replenishment.
    • Liaising with repackers for additional lines to send out for repacking
    • Monitor stock levels to ensure there are no supply chain disruptions and excess stock accumulation.

  • Supplier/Customer Relationship Management:
    • Act as the main point of contact for European Suppliers & Customers, developing the relationship and expanding the range of either import or export lines.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, marketing, finance) to ensure purchasing aligns with company objectives.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with European and international regulations, including trade and customs laws.
    • Maintain accurate purchasing & sales records and create reports on procurement activities, supplier & customer performance and monitoring market trends for products.
    • Work alongside the quality team to ensure compliance with our QMS system and maintain training records alongside supplier & customer qualifications.
  • Administrative:
    • Setting up new lines, updating internal logs, ordering samples EU & UK
    • Running transaction reports
    • Raising PO’s and organising transport
    • Creating Bill of materials (BOM) within the ERP system

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or similar role, with a focus on European markets (minimum 3-5 years).
    • Experience in sourcing products from European suppliers or managing European supply chains.
    • Knowledge of EU trade regulations, import/export procedures, and customs laws.
    • Be fluent with industry databases, to include but not limited to MPA, Iqvia, C&D  
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to work with large sets of data and make informed decisions.
    • Ability to manage multiple suppliers simultaneously.
    • Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems (e.g. Eaxact, SAP, Oracle).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English is essential. Additional European languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Italian) are a strong plus.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented and highly organised.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • A proactive approach to sourcing, managing relationships, and driving process improvements.
  • Additional Information:
  • This role may require occasional travel across Europe to meet with suppliers & customers and attend trade fairs.
