Position Overview:
The Volunteer Services Coordinator (VSC) is responsible for supporting all aspects of the CFHFH volunteer program and reports to Volunteer Program Manager. The VSC assists with the recruitment, engagement, appreciation and retention of all volunteers for Construction, ReStore, Development and the Administrative office. The VSC works closely with all departments and volunteers to create a positive and engaging atmosphere for CFHFH volunteers.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment, scheduling and orientation for volunteers from New Hanover, Pender and Duplin counties to meet all the volunteer needs across all departments.
- Collaborate with Construction and Development to ensure all volunteer needs and logistics for all builds (including meals when necessary) are met.
- Assist with volunteer logistics for special events, including but not limited to, 5K Turkey Trot, UpScale ReSale and Women Build.
- Update and maintain manuals, policies, and volunteer records using the Volgistics database
- Compose monthly volunteer newsletter for electronic distribution
- Assist with logistics of the Collegiate Challenge Program, including meals and on-site orientation
- Serve as the main initial point of contact for volunteers on construction sites to ensure successful volunteer build days
- Recruit donors to provide lunches on construction job sites for all build days, excluding sponsor builds.
- Collaborate with Marketing to create social media efforts and communications on volunteer needs, activities, and appreciation, including taking/posting photos
- Assist with volunteer engagement including appreciation events, volunteer committee meetings and volunteer lunch and learns
Requirements:
- Be committed to and have a willingness to promote the mission and activities of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields of study or 1 year of experience in the field of non-profit volunteer management or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Enthusiastic, teamwork focused, strong customer service orientation, flexible and adaptable
- Self-motivated and directed
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, time management and follow-through skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including public speaking with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities and groups of stakeholders and adapt to changing schedules and needs of stakeholders
- Work may require standing, bending, kneeling and reaching.
- Outside meetings and presentations may be required.
