Job Description:

Berklee invites applications for a full-time Temp Counselor to join our vibrant, student-centered Counseling Services team. This is a two-month, full-time temporary position, designed to support the mental health and wellbeing of our diverse, creative student community. The position is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

At Berklee, we believe that creativity fuels change—and student wellness fuels creativity. Counseling Services plays a critical role in supporting students’ personal, academic, and artistic journeys. Our work is rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and a strong commitment to mental health equity. We aim to create a campus culture where all students feel empowered and supported in their personal development and artistic pursuits.

As a Temp Counselor, you will provide short-term, goal-oriented counseling to students and contribute to a culture of care that reflects Berklee’s mission to nurture the creative and personal growth of the world’s most inspired artists. You'll work within a Flexible Care Model, offering support that meets students where they are, with an emphasis on accessibility, inclusion, and evidence-based clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide brief individual counseling, crisis intervention, and assessment services.

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and refer students to appropriate community resources for ongoing care, psychiatric evaluation, or specialized services.

  • Collaborate with Health and Wellness colleagues on outreach, psychoeducational programming, and prevention efforts.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with ethical and legal standards.

  • Participate in regular clinical supervision, peer consultation, and team meetings.

  • Offer consultation to faculty, staff, and student leaders as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (MSW, LMHC, LICSW, LMFT).

  • Licensure or license-eligibility in the state of Massachusetts.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience providing counseling services, preferably in a college or university setting.

  • Demonstrated excellence in multicultural counseling—especially with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, international, and first-generation students.

  • Strong crisis management skills and familiarity with Section 12 protocols and Boston-area mental health resources.

Who You Are:
You’re someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and brings warmth, professionalism, and flexibility to your work. You understand the unique challenges facing college students—particularly those pursuing creative paths—and you're passionate about supporting their mental health as a foundation for personal and artistic success.

Why Berklee:
At Berklee, we’re committed to work-life balance, student-centered practice, and an inclusive workplace where innovation and creativity are not only encouraged—they’re expected. Counseling Services is a mission-driven team that values professional development, collaboration, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

Hiring Range: $60,000 to $70,000; salary dependent on relevant experience and education.
