Position Summary:

  • Support a team of Network Reliability Engineers (NRE) and Network Operations Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the NRE / SRE domain expert, enabling teams to adopt and implement reliability standard processes.
  • Understand and follow NRE / SRE standard practices, processes, principles, and strategies across the organization.
  • Work towards NRE / SRE technology domain expertise, enabling teams to adopt and implement reliability standard processes.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to align reliability goals with business objectives.
  • Support new product design and deployment initiatives to ensure highly available, robust and serviceable products, ensuring the reliability and performance of the BofA network infrastructure.
  • Advocate for retrospective and continuous feedback loops to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce or eliminate toil (ie. manual intervention) through automation of operational workflows and processes to improve overall operational stability.
  • Develop, contribute to and adopt tools and automation to improve efficiency in monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, as well as incident, change and problem management.
  • Drive multi-functional initiatives to improve operational and engineering efficiency.
  • Create and publish technical knowledge articles to support permeate knowledge around troubleshooting procedures, common issues/defects, and to support automation adoption.
  • Engage as a subject matter expert in incident triage efforts, failure scenario modelling and works with the Problem Manager to diagnose root causes for complex/high impact incident/problem management investigations.
  • Communicate effectively with Operations, Engineering and Lines of Business to provide clarity into network infrastructure health and incident status.
  • Work on user incidents and problems to resolution and provide phenomenal user experience.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of the platform.
  • Support development and maintenance routines of monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into system health and performance.
  • Participate in 24x7 support and on-call coverage follow the sun model and performs blameless Postmortems (RCAs) as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in site reliability engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in large-scale, mission-critical environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills are a must.
  • Proficiency with network technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, Layer 2 protocols, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IS-IS, EVPN, VxLAN etc.)
  • Experience with enterprise-class routing, switching, and firewall platforms (Cisco, Fortinet, Arista, Palo Alto, F5, Bluecat, etc.).
  • Understanding of Linux & Windows operating systems including shell scripting.
  • Experience with coding languages such as Java, JavaScript, Ansible or Python in a CI/CD, DevOps model with knowledge of GIT.
  • Experience with network modeling and programming - YANG, NETCONF
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as ThousandEyes, Splunk, Prometheus, or Dynatrace
  • Experience supporting infrastructure in large Enterprises, ISP, or Cloud providers.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team with direct responsibilities and an ability to juggle competing priorities and adapt to changes in project scope.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Experience working in an agile environment with exposure to Agile tools like Jira.
  • Certifications in Networking, Cloud and Coding topics.
  • Knowledge of data analytics & visualization, AI-driven automation, and prompt engineering.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Pay range

$135,900.00 - $220,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
