Compliance Specialist
BHcare is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our organization meets all federal, state, licensing, and accreditation standards while promoting accuracy and quality in program and clinical documentation. What You’ll Do:
• Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
• Monitor compliance trends, prepare reports, and present findings with actionable recommendations.
• Serve as a resource on documentation integrity, offering staff training, consultation, and guidance.
• Review record release requests for HIPAA validity and prepare records for release in compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with quality staff to develop and monitor corrective action plans.
• Promote a positive, team-oriented culture through strong communication and responsive support.
• Perform other duties in support of quality improvement and regulatory readiness.
• Travel between sites as needed (personal vehicle may be required).

• Prior compliance, quality assurance, or healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field required. In lieu of bachelor’s degree: Associate degree or college coursework equivalent (2 years) and 2 years' work experience in related field; OR high school diploma and minimum of 4 years of experience in related field.• Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance, auditing, quality assurance, or clinical documentation within a behavioral health or healthcare setting.
• Background as a clinician, case manager, or similar role in behavioral health strongly preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated expertise in reviewing and evaluating documentation for compliance and quality.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Skilled in training, coaching, and providing technical guidance to staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365/Microsoft Office Suite required. Ability to navigate through electronic health records system (EHR) and related applications preferred.
