Job Title:        Integrated Trades – Playground Specialist

Work Year: 12 Months

Salary Schedule: TSS – 260 days

 

SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for inspecting, installing, and maintaining records on playground equipment; maintaining playground and fall surfaces. They will also address immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assist skilled trades as assigned; ensure adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

3. Performs a variety of landscaping activities (e.g. mowing, planting, spraying weeds, fertilizing, raking leaves, etc.) to maintain school grounds, playgrounds, and athletic fields.

4. Plants, transplants, trims and/or removes trees to maintain district grounds in a safe and attractive manner.

5. Operates and maintains heavy equipment to assist in the completion of assigned maintenance projects.

6. Removes snow at school facilities to ensure the parking lots and sidewalks are safe for vehicles, staff, students, and other personnel.

7. Fabricates a variety of items for equipment repair and landscaping, utilizing carpentry and welding skills.

8. Prepares documentation (e.g. work orders, list of chemicals applied, spreadsheets) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. Creates and completes work orders in Cherwell work order system, as needed

9. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions. Review plans and specifications to ensure they meet district, state, and federal standards.

10. Installs a variety of objects and systems (e.g. playground equipment, chain link fence, snow fence, traffic control barriers, concrete, slope paving, drain pans, concrete flumes, etc.) for the purpose of establishing positive drainage and maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a pest control, playground maintenance, heavy duty machine operation, or another related field, preferred

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Valid state issued Driver’s License, required
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector course, required within 2 years of hire
  • Pesticide Applicator License, required within 1 year of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by the conclusion of the district-provided training course TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and?experience with personal computers and peripherals?
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as?telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.?
  • Operating knowledge?of and experience with office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, etc.
  • Operating knowledge of district information technology systems and department-specific?software and equipment required within 3 months after entering position
  • Operational knowledge of all powered equipment used to perform job functions
