HR Generalist :
 Responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR management and organizational managers and employees. This position may carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll processing, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and interviews applicants for job vacancies as assigned. Conducts phone screens, check references, bondability and criminal background on selected applicants. Work with management to develop job descriptions and announcements for recruitment agencies, advertising publications, and internal employee notification. Prepare new employee orientation materials and update as needed. Participate in conducting new employee orientation. Assist hiring manager making recommendations for selection of open positions within organization. Attends career fairs as needed. Works with local colleges and universities to promote and recruit potential candidates and interns.
  • Assist manager of HR with employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Assists with exit interviews with staff members leaving the organization. Assists with various inquiries from employees related to medical, retirement, policy questions.
  • Assists HR manager in preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll, 401k and medical deductions
  • Serves as an Administrator for the HRIS system, updating salary changes within ADP and BalancedComp for maintaining payroll, salary and employee data. Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations
  • Provide administrative support for various HR duties, such as but not limited to, Affirmative Action plans, EEO-1 and Vets 4212, invoice reconciliation, 401k and Profit share processing,
  • logo wear orders. Assists in department projects as assigned. Assist team with HR questions from employees related to benefits and policy guidelines.
  • Conducts regular and annual training for supervisors and employees on subjects such as interviewing, diversity, performance evaluations, discipline, harassment, etc.
  • Contribute to HR strategies and projects as assigned.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Ensures legal compliance with all local, federal, and state regulations applicable to the human resources area such as: Civil Rights Act, Affirmative Action, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), FMLA, and EEO.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

Banking and/or Accounting related experience preferred. Previous HR experience required. Good overall knowledge of Human Resources, especially the legal aspects, are effectively used and administered in the industry.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. SHRM certification a plus.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to communicate effectively with people both verbally and in writing (listens and understands problems and assist staff) at all levels as needed.

Other Skills

Must be familiar with FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, EEOC and other federal, state employment laws. Good problem-solving skills and ability to react quickly to arising problems. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; word, excel, power point, etc. and comfort with using data base programs.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
