Your main responsibilities
Main purpose of the job:
We have an opportunity for a result driven and commercially minded Procurement Manager to join our procurement and supply chain organisation; to be accountable for developing and embedding procurement strategies in conjunction with operations and other functions, driving spend efficiencies and total cost of ownership mentality, partnering with key suppliers in target category areas, leading strategic category procurement (sourcing) related activities, and ensuring sourcing is managed directly through the sourcing team and indirectly across other departments via centrally managed protocols..
S/he will play a crucial role in fostering and maintaining relationships that drive mutual growth and success, collaborating with stakeholders, including suppliers and subcontractors, to ensure procurement operations align with strategic goals and compliance standards.
The role also has responsibility for managing discreet one-off commercial projects, which could include but not limited to one-off large customer project account with significant procurement category content, maintaining / updating purchasing framework arrangements, and managing purchasing insourcing or outsourcing improvement projects
Main responsibilities:
- Member of the Head of Commercial and Procurement senior management team
- The leadership, development, and management of the team through the employment lifecycle
- Ensuring that the team is appropriately resourced, informed, motivated, and trained to meet business objectives
- Leading supply chain development strategies, and managing business critical outsourced activities, under a supplier relationship and category management model
- Initiating and supporting on-going cost saving measures via deliberate category management initiatives
- Managing the end-to-end procurement process for key categories of spend (e.g., sub-contractors)
- Managing Procurement and Sub-Contracting risks and opportunities in conjunction with senior leaders within both our project and maintenance businesses
- Negotiating with suppliers and building long term relationships
- Identifying new and alternative sources of supply for products/services, and making recommendations to management
- Custodian of procurement, tendering and supplier performance management procedures
- Gate-keeping new vendor onboarding and developing an exit strategy for poor suppliers
- Budgeting and forecasting of procurement savings plans and ongoing benefits tracking on the inhouse system
- Understanding both price and quality needs, including developing ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) strategies in tenders to develop long term frameworks, helping Schindler meet net zero requirements.
- Oversight and administration of Supplier Rebates – agreements, realisation and tracking
- Initiating and driving the development of new procurement tools and optimisation of e-Procurement systems; via full evaluation of all potential opportunities with technology
- Leading “one off” discreet commercial projects, including supporting subcontractor final accounts especially for large installation projects
- Supporting supplier accreditation strategy planning and liaising with purchasing and fulfilment teams regarding vendor accreditation and integration of accreditation processes with P2P activities
- Ad-hoc projects
- Employees must comply with Company Health & Safety requirements and set a personal example of safe behaviour. Employees will be required to contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to Schindler Ltd occupational health and safety management system.

Experience & Qualifications Required:
- Demonstrated track record of success in supporting complex commercial procurements
- Worked within a complex multi-national business with a commercial background
- Experience with procurement management tools and risk analysis
- Experience researching new suppliers / categories and making recommendations.
- Preparing budgets and forecasting purchasing trends
- Compile reports on supplier performance and statistics.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Qualifications in procurement, business, economics, marketing, or related field preferred.
- Working to or achieved a Higher National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply, Purchasing and Logistics, Business Studies, Supply Chain Management, or Marketing
