JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs collection, sorting, and washing functions for the Laundry Services Department.
a. Goes to assigned pick up sites, collects dirty linen, and transports it to the soiled linen processing area.
b. Sorts dirty linen according to type and amount of soil.
c. Weighs soiled linen and records pounds by unit type.
d. Loads like linens into washers.
e. Washes laundry considering isolation, contamination, standard precaution procedures, and daily wash priorities.
Processes clean linen according to standardized department procedures. Sorts wet washed linen for tumble dryer. Inspects clean linen at various stages of processing for cleanliness. Removes linen from circulation when it is unacceptable according to predetermined quality standards. Separates heavily stained or torn items and routes for rewashing or disaster supply.
Folds, sorts, and stacks large and small articles. Examines articles for stains, tears, or other imperfections.
Distributes clean linens to user departments and maintains stock levels on nursing units. Stocks linen cart with appropriate amounts of various items. Transports linen delivery cart to units. Checks floor linen supplies and delivers items to bring levels up to par. Takes linen requests and delivers them to the unit.
Maintains assigned equipment, material, and work area in an orderly, clean, and workable state.
a. Dry or wet mops floors and cleans other horizontal surfaces.
b. Collects waste and recyclable items from area and places in designated areas or the compactor.
c. Damp dusts counters and equipment.
d. Spot cleans walls, windows, and metal surfaces.
e. Cleans fixtures, tops of washers, and other high areas using a ladder.
f. Reports the need for repair/potential hazards of equipment, furniture, fixtures, and building to the Plant Operations Department or Administrative Supervisor.
Dispenses chemicals and dilutes them according to approved procedures.
Moves and stores supplies (and other heavy objects) as required.
Assists with the training of new departmental employees by serving as a mentor or assigned "Routine of the day" coach.
Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
On-the-job training is provided. High school diploma preferred.
