SALARY RANGE: $56,966 - $61,920
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator I applies professional experience and training in information technology to administer enterprise business applications in a complex computing environment. The Systems Administrator I is responsible for a variety of duties which includes installation of software, application setup and changes, performance analysis, maintenance, security administration, and vendor relationship management.

Responsibilities
- Application Administration: Configuration and administration of enterprise application system software on IT production and development platforms as instructed by the Product Owner(s) in Application and Web Services. These applications include but are not limited to: SQL service, custom developed and vendor supported platforms and other university operations applications.
- Provide ongoing technical support: Coordinate and provide day-to-day support and assistance for customers in the operation of production systems and applications under control of the App & Web Services team.
- Perform or serve as vendor liaison for regular system maintenance including patching, backups and upgrades.
- Vendor relationship management: Interface with the software and professional services vendors in support of the enterprise applications.
- Coordinate support and tasks as requested.
- Performance Analysis and Application Monitoring: Routine monitoring of application performance, reporting any concerns to the Product Owner for further analysis.
- Monitoring of applications administered to assure uptime and appropriate response when there is a service outage (following established Service Level Agreements for the application(s)).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and IT certification OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1-year relevant work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training

The Systems Administrator I is an entry-level technical role responsible for supporting routine infrastructure operations, basic system software administration, and application support. Working under general supervision, this role contributes to team discussions, performs tasks in varied environments, and applies foundational knowledge to assist with system maintenance and troubleshooting. Candidates should demonstrate a growth mindset, effective communication, and a collaborative spirit. Industry Knowledge (e.g., employment laws, financial regulations, academic administration):
Experience supporting a large user base for a variety of enterprise/vendor applications (both on prem and cloud based).
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.

• Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
