The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and commercially astute Solicitor to join our Band 1 Financial Services Regulatory (FSR) team in Sydney. This role focuses on non-contentious advisory work, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients including banks, platforms and fintechs, superannuation funds, life and general insurers, financial advice houses, and wealth managers.

In this role you will work closely with leading Partners Michael Vrisakis, Maged Girgis, Andrew Bradley and Tamanna Islam, and have exposure to some of the most interesting and complex FSR work in the Australian market.

What you’ll do

  • Advise clients on compliance with financial services laws and regulations

  • Draft and review governance and regulatory documentation, including disclosure materials, policies, and compliance frameworks

  • Assist clients in the design and development of a range of financial products including drafting of product rules, constitutions and trust deeds

  • Draft and negotiate on a broad range of commercial contracts impacting financial services businesses

  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments and assist clients in implementing them

  • Support clients through licensing applications, variations, and exemptions

  • Liaise with regulators such as ASIC, APRA, ATO and AUSTRAC on behalf of clients

  • Assist with internal governance, risk management, and regulatory audits

  • Advise employers on compliance with Superannuation Guarantee regime

  • Contribute to thought leadership and client education on emerging regulatory trends

  • Collaborate with cross-practice teams on complex, multi-disciplinary matters

  • Advise on strategic M&A, enforcement and litigation matters in the financial services sector

What you’ll bring

  • Experience as a Solicitor in a leading private practice firm or equivalent

  • Strong knowledge of the FSR landscape and relevant legislation

  • Excellent drafting and advisory skills

  • A proactive, client-focused approach and ability to work collaboratively in a team

  • Admission to practice in Australia or NZ, and a strong academic background
