About the Role


The Commercial Manager – Palletised Express will play a crucial role in managing the financial performance of the Palletised Express business unit, with a primary focus on cost optimisation and efficiency improvements. Based at a choice of Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane, this role reports directly to the General Manager of Commercial Finance and is responsible for driving initiatives that enhance profitability through effective cost management strategies.

As a senior member of the commercial team, you will oversee a portfolio across multiple states and deliver innovative, multimodal transport solutions that create long-term value for both customers and Team Global Express (TGE). This role is suited to someone with strong leadership skills, proven commercial acumen, and the ability to build lasting relationships across industries. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage the financial performance of various key depots within the Palletised Express business, focusing on cost optimisation and efficiency improvements to enhance overall profitability.

  • Collaborate with branch managers nationally to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive analytical tools including cost reports and dashboards, providing stakeholders with clear visibility into cost structures and performance unit metrics.

  • Analyse operational data to identify trends and variances, providing actionable insights and recommendations for cost control measures.

  • Support the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in the preparation of financial reports and presentations, effectively communicating findings and recommendations to senior management.

  • Manage the annual budgeting process and ongoing periodic forecasting process

  • Lead cost-related projects and initiatives, driving cross-functional collaboration to implement best practices and improve cost efficiency.

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as required, contributing to discussions on operational performance and supporting strategic initiatives focused on cost efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures related to finance and commercial operations, maintaining high standards of governance and accountability.

  • Preparation of capex/opex requests and business cases including tracking of capital expenditure, project and asset creation.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of senior leadership in commercial management, sales, or account management within transport, logistics, or supply chain

  • A capacity to operate in a dynamic, evolving environment.

  • Strong organisational, self-discipline and people management skills.

  • Proven skills in defining, prioritising and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to understand the changing needs of the operations environment customer, and market demands to enable the operational team to optimise the TGE network better.

  • Ability to change and adapt to evolving business priorities and deliver multiple, demanding, high-quality deliverables on time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Economics or Bachelor of Commerce with Finance / Accounting focus.

  • Registered CA / CPA or an equivalent professional qualification
