Join our team as a Fire Mitigation and Illegal Dumping Officer!

 

Are you passionate about keeping communities safe, reducing fire risks, and protecting our environment? In this role, you’ll work closely with residents and community groups to assess, educate and take action on fire hazards and illegal dumping across the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. 

 

We currently have two permanent full-time opportunities available.

 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Assessing overgrown properties for fire risks risks including unsightly vegetation and illegal dumping and working with owners to manage hazards.

  • Responding to and investigating illegal dumping and littering issues.

  • Engaging with the community to provide education and raise awareness.

  • Building partnerships with residents, groups, and agencies.

  • Collecting evidence, preparing reports, and issuing notices.

  • Case managing investigations and ensuring compliance with relevant Local and State laws.

  • Working collaboratively as part of a supportive, high-performing team.

 

 

Skills and experience:

 

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience in community education, compliance and investigations.

  • Ability to interpret legislation and prepare clear reports.

  • Physically fit to carry out outdoor and hands-on tasks.

  • Organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities.
