Purpose of the Job/Objective
- Manage the Railway Safety activities and related deliverables in accordance with QCD commitments on the project(s)/program(s) he/she is appointed to.
- Support the Alstom Transport products performance by defining safety requirements allowing to reach an acceptable level of risks as per the Alstom Transport Safety policy.
- Coordinate the different Railway Safety contributors working on the Program/Project for the relevant scope (Train or Subsystem).
- Perform Safety analyses and produce related deliverables in accordance with QCD commitments on the project(s)/program(s).
- Apply the applicable Alstom Transport Engineering/Safety processes & instructions.

Functional Reporting : Train / Subsystem Safety Engineer / Project Engineering Manager
Network & Links
- Engineering Design team (SE, SSE, TxE…), Validation team, Central Engineering RAMS Team.
- Project: Project Engineering Manager (PrEM), Project Warranty Manager (PrWM) and other Safety stakeholder from other departments (Sourcing, Industrial, etc…)
- Quality: Project Quality & Safety Manager (PrQSM)
- Integrating & Participating Units: Safety Engineers counterparts on the corresponding project(s)/program(s)
- Service: ILS/LCC Engineer, Service Engineer

Responsibilities
Accountable for :
- Delivering Safety analyses compliant with QCD work packages commitments.
- Reporting on the progress of his/her activities and alert the Train/Subsystem Safety Engineer and N+1 in case of difficulty.
Responsible for :
- Defining and transfer in a timely manner the necessary safety requirements to put under control the relevant railway safety risks and follow them until closure (Safety Related Item List/Hazard Log).
- Supporting the other stakeholders (design, industrial, sourcing, validation etc..) in the definition of appropriate measures to meet the safety actions and to follow their closure through appropriate documented evidence.
- Being the point of contact for Safety matters on the project/program for the corresponding scope (Train / Subsystem) in particular to the Customer (internal or external).
- Consolidating the Safety contribution from the Coparts and external suppliers.
- Supporting the PrQSM in the performance of Safety Design Review and the issuance of Safety Authorizations by providing the necessary inputs.
- Taking the role of Safety Leader (K1 8D) for which he/she is appointed to, in order to support the team in the assessment, containment, closure and RoE of the issue as per RSA-WMS-002.
- Managing the Safety resources to meet the QCD work package commitment
- Coordinating the Safety contributors from different entities (Copart/Supplier representatives).
- Performing the Safety analyses he/she is in charge of, as per the applicable Safety instructions/processes and other specific requirements committed to the Customer.
- Addressing Customer/Independent parties (ISA, NoBo, Debo,…) comments to get its approval on the Safety deliverables within the limits of Alstom Transport commitments.
- Contributing to the assessment of the Safety performance of the product and to the upstream identification of the necessary safety requirements to ensure the achievement of the Safety targets.
- Applying the Alstom Transport/Engineering rules & processes to his / her activities in particular those dedicated to Safety activities.
- Having a pro-active challenging view on the Safety data/results he/she handles to enhance the adequacy/consistency of the Safety studies and requirements.
- Seeking for the technical understanding of the Alstom Transport products in order to better assess their safety performance and potential areas of improvement.
- Adopting a product oriented mindset in performing his/her studies to foster the capitalisation of the results of the studies towards the product Safety performance.
Knowledge & Experience :
- Railway Safety analysis and demonstration methods and tools with 2 to 3 years of experience.
- Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products with 2 to 3 years of experience.
- Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer).
- Time management and reporting skill.
- Sense of urgency / priority.
- Customer & Product Focus.
- Structured and organised with Hands-on approach.
- English operational in reading/writing and speaking within technical meetings.
