Overall Purpose of the Job
Carry out laboratory and/or field analysis of fluids in a safe and efficient manner complying with procedures and work instructions. Record resulting data and prepare reports up to client specifications.
Key Activities and Accountabilities
- Carry out sampling and onsite analysis of petroleum fluids in a safe and efficient manner according to customer requirements and appropriate methods laid down in work instructions and procedures.
- Interpret the measured data by the use of laboratory software packages and calculation methods: record all such calculation and methods of working in laboratory work files and prepare the results in a format suitable for presentation to the client.
- Conduct ‘small scale’ equipment maintenance and calibration as necessary to ensure efficient laboratory / field operations.
- May be required to perform unsupervised Field Service activities at remote locations, liaising with customers as required to ensure smooth performance of all operations.
- Carry out onsite (Wet Chemistry) analysis of petroleum fluids in a safe and efficient manner according to customer requirements and appropriate methods laid down in the relevant work instructions and procedures.
- Follow all other administrative procedures and work instructions specified by laboratory management systems so as to comply with the requirements of accreditation.
- Take an active role in safety aspects for field chemistry jobs; MSDS, risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
- Take an active role in pre-job planning for all field chemistry work.
- Take an active role in the development of on-site sampling and analytical methods.
- Be aware of safety considerations at all times and bring any perceived safety issues to the attention of the Line Manager without delay.
- Liaise with Supervisor / Manager, team members, internal and external parties as and when required to ensure all aspects of the schedule of work are discussed with the relevant parties to ensure effective communication to achieve safe completion of the task.
Job Knowledge and Qualifications
- Extensive onsite/lab experience.
- Technical knowledge gained through completion of competency for grade.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Good familiarity with computers and data processing.
