The full-time starting salary is normally £70,564.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £79,840.00 per annum.

Birmingham City University are seeking an Associate Director in Student and Programme Administration to join their Student and Academic Services team. This role will attract a candidate with the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead a large team to deliver transformative change and foster a culture of service excellence. Our expert central service strives to deliver a seamless student journey from enrolment to graduation. The key to success will be a commitment to a customer-focussed and digitally led set of services which is ready for changes in student or sector demand.  

 

The role's primary aim is to ensure the smooth, efficient, and compliant operation of all student administration services. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the area's strategic vision, overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring data quality and compliance, leading and developing a high-performing team, and managing key stakeholder relationships. Anticipated outcomes include enhanced student satisfaction, streamlined processes, improved data integrity, and a highly motivated and effective team. 

 

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively as part of the Student and Academic Services Division leadership team. 
  • Leading and overseeing school-aligned programme administration teams delivering professional support across undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeship and CPD provision.
  • Managing central student lifecycle services, including enrolment, assessment, graduation, and student funding administration.
  • Overseeing the student records team, ensuring the accurate maintenance of student and curriculum data in the student records system.
  • Working closely with academic Schools to understand needs and ensure programme administration is responsive, collaborative, and aligned to academic activity.
  • Representing the student and programme administration function in institutional forums and working groups, influencing policy and process development.

 

The Associate Director of Student and Programme Administration will: 

  • Have experience of leading large, multi-team administrative services in a complex organisation, preferably within higher education.
  • Hold relevant skills in managing and motivating staff, with a commitment to team development and performance.
  • Possess experience of managing student lifecycle processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Have a good understanding of student records systems and data management principles.
  • Have demonstrable experience of delivering change in response to evolving institutional and external priorities.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
