- Manage and direct the activities of plant maintenance and electrical personnel, with gate-to-gate responsibility for the management of contracted workers.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy for the plywood mill, prioritizing reliability and maximizing asset lifecycles.
- Lead the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) specific to asset reliability, tracking and reporting on these KPIs to measure the effectiveness of maintenance efforts and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs for all plywood mill equipment. Analyze equipment functions, potential failure modes, and consequences of failure to create targeted PM tasks that maximize uptime and prevent catastrophic breakdowns.
- Champion a culture of preventative maintenance throughout the organization. Lead efforts to shift from reactive maintenance approaches to proactive strategies that focus on preventing equipment failures before they occur.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department while improving asset utilization.
- Manage the maintenance budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively towards maximizing equipment reliability and minimizing downtime costs.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and modifications that enhance reliability and maintainability, collaborating with other departments to implement these upgrades.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for equipment failures. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve overall asset reliability.
- Perform criticality analysis of assets to prioritize maintenance efforts.
- Stay up to date on the latest reliability engineering practices such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean Maintenance principles.
- Provide ongoing training and development for maintenance personnel on reliability principles and best practices.
- Direct, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures including safety and environmental requirements, upholding maximum safety standards for all maintenance technicians.
- Demonstrate commitment to the team and vision for the facility. This may include duties and responsibilities as assigned and a flexible schedule.
- Minimum of 5 years of plant maintenance experience, with a strong background in reliability.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in plant maintenance with a proven leadership track record.
- Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles and asset management best practices.
- Proven ability to develop and implement KPI’s to measure maintenance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Experience with managing maintenance budgets and allocating resources effectively.
- Strong track record for implementing continuous improvement initiatives in a maintenance or asset management environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, procurement) on reliability-focused projects.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate and guide the maintenance team towards a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.
- Computer knowledge including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CMMS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Continuous education in a degreed program, and/or additional certifications.
- Experience with reliability centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies and PdM technologies.
- Proficiency in using reliability analysis tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and cause-and-effect diagrams (Ishikawa diagrams).
