This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling an assigned project from conceptual stages through completion to optimize profit and meet corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties.

Specializations
There may be specializations within the Project Manager position related to service line such as Fire Alarm Project Manager and Fire Sprinkler Project Manager.
 
Job Duties
- Review and make relevant comments concerning the terms of the contractor or subcontractor agreements, the submitted subcontracts, and architectural or engineering designs
- Provide pre-proposal/bid support (i.e., site walks, proposal reviews, etc.) to system sales representative and for larger fire alarm service to ensure proposals mitigate risk of scope creep and cost overruns
- Conduct periodic site visits to monitor the progress of construction, review status of work completed during the period covered, review that work is generally proceeding in a good manner and in general accordance with the approved drawings and specifications
- Coordinate hand-off meetings with sales, design, and field teams
- Prepare project status reports and recommends the release of construction funds
- Perform subcontractor negotiations
· Review subcontractor quotes for missing and incomplete scopes prior to presentation of cost models
- Generate master schedule for assigned project(s) with superintendent
· Review accuracy, feasibility, and adherence to contract parameters
· Prepare construction risk assessment reports
· Support the site superintendent and safety officer in site safety adherence and documentation of safety meetings
· Monitor and supports superintendent in master schedule adherence
· Review inspection status/implications with superintendent
- Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to maximize responsiveness to customer needs and market opportunities
·Provide financial and technical justification for the project
·Secure all required permits as needed
- Ensure Parts/Warehouse is ordering the accurate parts, per design bill of materials (BOM), according to a timeline that makes sense for the job and once they are received, they are properly staged and ready for the techs
- Maintain a job management system to track contract agreements, a clear scope of work, project timelines (like Gantt charts or otherwise), change orders and all associated back up for the project
- Receive daily field reports from field technicians and monitor closely for any issues and/or scope creep
- Manage change order process directly with customer/contractors to ensure any changes in scope are captured, accounted for, and processed for funding
- Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations and laws
· Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance
· Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
· Respectfully takes direction from manager
· Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Business Administration, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Project Management or related field, or equivalent work experience in the fire life safety industry 3-5 years of project management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
 
Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations
· Valid state issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record
· Must have the ability to obtain any and all licensing required within 90 days of hire.
 
Skills and Abilities
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
· Able to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
· Possess strong mechanical / electrical and technical aptitude
· Possess strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences

Must be proficient in/have advanced skills in Word and Excel such as spreadsheets, as well as be proficient in operating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. In addition, required to learn and use industry specific devices and software.

This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May also be occasionally exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, as well as risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
