Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Director of IT to join our growing team.
This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Janicki Industries, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking an IT Director to position our organization for rapid expansion and the transformative impact of emerging technologies, particularly AI. We anticipate profound shifts in IT landscapes over the next 5-10 years and are committed to remaining at the forefront while scaling operations efficiently.
This role encompasses a broad spectrum of opportunities and initiatives in IT operations, development, networking, cybersecurity, infrastructure, applications, cloud services, and AI integration. We are searching for an outstanding leader to helm this pivotal position.
The ideal candidate possesses deep experience in large-scale organizations, ideally within aerospace or similar high-tech industries, capable of spearheading major projects across our core IT domains. Key areas include:
- On-prem virtualization, storage, networking, backups, and disaster recovery
- Multi-site network engineering and optimization
- Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud platforms
- IT operations, including scalable help desk support for thousands of employees
- Application development and integration
- Adoption and implementation of AI-driven tools and processes
- Collaboration on cybersecurity initiatives, including NIST 800-171 compliance and handling controlled unclassified information (CUI)
Reporting directly to the CTO, the IT Director will oversee IT operations, development, networking, and help desk functions. They will work closely with the Director of Secure IT and the Director of Information Security, who manages CMMC compliance and related security protocols, to ensure seamless integration across all IT and security efforts. This includes providing strategic support for enterprise-wide initiatives where IT plays a critical role in holistic solutions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- 20+ years of progressive IT experience, with a proven track record of escalating leadership responsibilities
- An exceptionally strong technical foundation with an engineering mindset, encompassing networking, storage, system administration, secure computing, and development
- Proficiency in navigating complex organizational dynamics, resolving high-level issues diplomatically at the director level
- Autonomy to operate independently under the CTO, managing expansive scopes and driving initiatives to completion
- A history of delivering diverse IT projects in infrastructure, applications, and emerging technologies
- Expertise in building, mentoring, and leading high-performing IT teams, from elite engineers to entry-level help desk staff, across the full IT spectrum
- A strong bias for action, coupled with robust project management skills to deploy production-ready technologies swiftly

QUALIFICATIONS
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science,, Information Science or a related field is required
- 20 or more years’ experience in IT
- Experience with NIST 800-171 compliance, handling controlled unclassified information (CUI) and CMMC preferred
- Strong technical base in IT (networking, storage, system administration, secure computing, etc.)
- Proven experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and software systems across multiple sites
- A record of successfully delivering a wide variety of IT projects in infrastructure, security, and applications.
- Has built, mentored, and managed world-class IT teams, from top engineers to entry-level help desk across the entire IT organization
- High bias for action, with solid project management skills for rapidly deploying operations-ready technology
- Experience managing secure/classified teams, including ISSO, ISSM, etc.
- Strong understanding of business systems integration and digital transformation
- Experience with cloud platforms, ERP systems, and SaaS applications
- Ability to handle tough situations, resolving issues at the director level
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Salary range for this role is between $200,000 - $250,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
