The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health Center of Excellence (CoE) in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) invites applications for an interdisciplinary postdoctoral training appointment. Pending the continuation and availability of funding, there are currently two 24-month postdoctoral positions available as early as Fall 2025.
The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health Center of Excellence (CoE) in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) invites applications for an interdisciplinary postdoctoral training appointment. The budgeted salary range for this appointment is $62,000 to $67,000. The overall mission of the CoE in MCH is to advance the health of all women, children, and families. The CoE MCH postdoctoral appointment prepares appointees for successful careers in MCH academic, government, or public health leadership roles, thereby advancing the central CoE mission to improve MCH outcomes. is to advance the health of all women, children, and families. Key components of the CoE MCH postdoctoral training program:
· Foundational didactic and experiential postdoctoral training in MCH public health, translational research and practice, teaching, curriculum development, and leadership
· Community-based participatory research training
· Mentorship in research, practice, and teaching
o Appointees are required to publish at least two peer-reviewed publications, technical or government reports, or grey literature annually and will receive mentorship in securing funding through pilot projects, small grants, contracts with government agencies, research grants (e.g., NIH R01), and career development awards (e.g., NIH K)
o Appointees will gain skills in curriculum development and teaching through contributions to the MCH teaching mission of the School of Public Health
· Mentored research and field experience
· Participation in career development activities through the school and university
· Activities to foster professional networking and collaboration with other MCH scholars and with Title V and other MCH practice and policy community partners
· Opportunities to participate in all CoE MCH workforce trainings and collaborate as co-facilitators
· Opportunities to gain experience serving as a consultant to the state MCH workforce
· Collaborative learning with other MCH postdoctoral students in other Pitt programs, including the EMBRACE Center, the Maternal Health Research Hub in the School of Nursing, and the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) fellowship at Magee-Womens Research Institute.
Qualifications of successful applicants:
· A doctoral degree in a public health field
· Commitment to a maternal and child health academic research, policy, or practice career
