Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of WSNA, responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, strategic direction, and operational excellence. This includes leadership across political advocacy, union engagement, professional development, and equity in nursing. The Executive Director works in close partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, and members to strengthen WSNA’s influence and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all organizational functions
  • Guide public policy initiatives that promote safe staffing, patient care, and professional standards
  • Represent WSNA in key relationships with government agencies, labor coalitions, and healthcare institutions
  • Ensure financial sustainability, operational integrity, and alignment with WSNA’s mission
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and equity across all programs and member engagement
  • Integrate principles of compassion and respect for the dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every person into organizational policies, member engagement, efforts to address health and socioeconomic disparities, and public advocacy
